bulletMarilyn Burdekin, RN, BSN, M.Ac., L.Ac.
Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist
410-491-6206

A full-time practitioner of the healing arts, with 28 years in Western medicine and over 5 years in Chinese medicine working half-time between both worlds. These worlds are very different with respect to who is the healer and who does the work of the healing. Each has their place within the world of disease and healing.

Healing in Western medicine means removing disease by ways of medication or intervention beyond the means of the patient. The doctor / machine / operation and or medication is the healer. The patient plays a passive role.

Healing in Eastern medicine means to remove habituated reaction to stress allowing the person to become more conscious. This is done through the use of needles, moxa and herbs. This conscious awareness leads to a dynamic that promotes healing. The practitioner of acupuncture collaborates with the person. The patient is an active participant in their own healing.

She is a 2001 graduate of Tai-Sophia obtaining a Masters Degree in Acupuncture. She has also advanced her training by attending one of the only 5-element Chinese herbal programs, taught by Thea Elijah - a renowned speaker in the field of Chinese herbal medicine.
